Sept 1-3:
My long-awaited trip to Los Cabo for Ronnie's bday. Yes, yes, we had fun in the sun as we sipped on our cervezas poolside, but it was the UNEXPECTED that made the trip even more memorable. Our lunch @ the Giggling Marlin had me very disappointed w/their ceviche, but Ronnie's cousins were very happy w/the Mother of All Burgers (see below). This burger was huge! It was split b/t 4 guys, who are big-time eaters, and there were still left-overs to take back to the hotel.
In between all of the pool lounging, bar hopping & tequila shots....we came across Ian Zeiring AKA Steve Sanders on one of our drinking adventures. I spotted the blonde curly-haired fool and told Ronnie's cousins who he was. They were convinced that it was NOT Steve Sanders b/c he was not with his hot super-model wife. Apparently this culprit was trying to hook up with a chick who was plain jane...which convinced the cousins, that it was NOT Steve. I knew better, so I walked up to the has-been and asked him politely, "Excuse me, what's your first name?", he responds, "Ian". That's when I suddenly shouted out to the cousins, "I TOLD YOU!"....as I turn back to Ian & ask if I can take a picture with him. To my dismay he says, "Do you mind if we take it later?", uh, fine then! I don't need a picture w/a 5'10" (he's really not tall) gump who is wearing white tube socks and running shoes in a Cabo bar when it is 100 degrees with high humidity! I'm not bitter, really, I'm not. So, sorry there's no picture for you to see below.
The final surprise came on the day I was leaving. Ronnie & I woke up early to go jetskiing, but when we looked at the Sea of Cortez, there was NO ONE in the water. The waves were reaching 5-7 feet and breaking close to shore. We still tried & asked if there was any jetskiing today, but the man @ the rentals said, "Sorry Senor, no ocean activites today". Hurricane Henriette was fast approaching. Our beautiful resort which was sunny during our stay, suddenly turned dark & very windy. The resort staff was preparing for a hurricane....sand bags were being placed along the beach front, pool unbrellas & lounge chairs were being put away. Luckily, my flight was not delayed and I arrived home safely. Ronnie & the cousins, stayed an extra day. I was supposed to pick up Ronnie from the airport on Sept. 4, but the Los Cabos Airport & the rest of the city was inactive. No flights in/out, no electricity for sometime, & 5 fellas stuck in 1 room enjoying their time together! hahah Thank God that these guys came back home safely, surviving Hurricane Henriette.
